I don’t know if any of you have heard of this mythical “Google Sandbox” or not, but if you haven’t, please allow me to fill you in…

You see, when little SEO’s are being tucked into bed, their parents tell them about this horrible place where Google takes all the new websites and hides them away from the index, shunning them from the light, until they go through a Dante-esque series of Purgatorio cornices and rigorous trials. Well, Virginia, there ain’t no Santa Claus, and their ain’t no sandbox either.

I have personally seen sites be indexed in literally hours. Of course, due to confidentiality agreements, I cannot discuss them. But, I can provide some interesting data involving this blog.

If you’ve read my previous post on Saturday, August 23 2008 you will see I mentioned my domain name change from googleandthedeepbluesea.blogspot.com to www.vancouver-seo.com. I made the switch the day I bought that tasty little dash delimited domain. I didn’t get around to verifying it in webmaster tools until Tuesday, and I just installed Analytics today (now before you all start screaming betrayal, yes, I know Google analytics is useless… but its free useless). Anyhow, today is August 29th, and I’ve already got 2 indexed pages.

But here’s the real proof. When I set up WMTools, it returned no data… but it does today:

“Googlebot last successfully accessed your home page on Aug 23, 2008.”

I bought the freaking domain on the 23rd! Sandbox? Really? I think I’d sooner accept the existence of Cap’n Crunch, because there’s far more statistical data to prove his existence!

Although… maybe its true… I’ve just checked, and vancouver-seo.com is NOT ranking for dduupplliiccaattee ccoonntteenntt!

Why Google! Oh, why are you punishing my poor little website that doesn’t actually get any traffic for anything! Is it because I ripped off your logo? Or because I have no intention to monetize this site?

For better waters now the little bark
of my indwelling powers raises her sails,
and leaves behind that sea so cruel and dark.
